Munich, Germany – 2 May 2019 – In order to support the automotive industry in building up a broad and cost competitive portfolio of hybrid and electric vehicles (xEV), Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) is launching new power modules for xEV main inverters. At this year’s PCIM trade fair Infineon will present four new HybridPACK™ Drive modules optimized for different inverter performance levels between 100 kW and 200 kW. Furthermore, Infineon introduces the HybridPACK Double Sided Cooling (DSC) S2, a technology upgrade to the existing HybridPACK DSC. This module targets main inverters up to 80 kW in hybrid and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles with high power density requirements.

Infineon’s HybridPACK™ family extends across the full power spectrum required by IGBT modules in hybrid and electric vehicles. Various product versions in six different packages enable maximum scalability across voltage and power classes, from 200 A to 900 A and 400 V to 1200 V (nominal chip values).

Providing a high-stability replacement for less-accurate thermocouples, the PANR 103395-342 experiences minimal drift from its initial electrical values. The device offers resistance at 25°C of 10kΩ, beta of 3950°K, dissipation constant of 8mW/°C, thermal time constant of 10.0 s, and an operating temperature range of -50 to + 180°C. The RoHS-compliant assembly features 18-AWG stranded Teflon-insulated lead wires.

Ametherm’s NTC sensing thermistors include the PANR 103395-342 probe assembly with a ring lug for easy and secure mounting to battery terminals. The device is extremely accurate and experiences minimal drift from its initial electrical values to provide a high-stability replacement for thermocouples. These tariffs include nearly every component that goes into the manufacture of any piece of electronic hardware, from resistors to capacitors, semiconductors to microcontrollers, and even the raw components that are turned into printed circuit boards.

Under Section 301 Action, USTR Releases Proposed Tariff List on Chinese Products. All components produced in China and included in Section 301 will be subject to the new tariffs effective July 6. For the purpose of clarification, components manufactured in Taiwan and Hong Kong are not considered within the scope of Section 301, therefore are not subject to the additional tariff.

These tariffs cover a wide range of products used in printed circuit board assemblies, including:

  • Capacitors (all, including tantalum, aluminum electrolytic, and ceramic)
  • Resistors (all, including thin/thick film, radial, potentiometers, and rheostats)
  • Fuses
  • Relays
  • Switches (all, of any kind)
  • Connectors and terminals of any kind for making electrical connections
  • Transistors
  • Thyristors
  • LEDs
  • Any printed circuit assembly (8543.90.68 and 9030.90.68 serve as a catch-all)

We recognize the entire industry is trying to understand the most economical supply chain route, while adhering to the guidelines of the law. The IBS Electronics Group is now being notified by suppliers as to how they intend to pass through the new tariffs.

Since many suppliers produce components in multiple countries it is unknown until time of receipt/shipment if the Country of Origin on the components being shipped will be China. For this reason our account managers and salespeople may not always know the Country of Origin at time of order placement. Because of the magnitude of the tariffs if the Country of Origin on the components being shipped to your company is China, IBS will have to begin passing through these tariffs on the effective date. We will continue to communicate with you as circumstances warrant further updates.

Can IBS Electronics pay the Tariff on our behalf?
As with all of our shipments to international locations, all our orders are shipped incoterms F.C.A. What this means is that the Importer of Record will be responsible for paying the tariff.

NXP Semiconductors Powers 5G Communications

NXP is driving innovation with its expanded cellular infrastructure portfolio of GaN and silicon laterally diffused metal oxide semiconductor (Si-LDMOS) products that deliver industry leading performance in a compact footprint to enable next-generation 5G cellular networks.

Spectrum expansion, higher-order modulation, carrier aggregation, full-dimension beam forming and other enablers of 5G connectivity will require an expanded base of technologies to support enhanced mobile broadband connectivity, says NXP. With spectrum usage and network footprints, multiple-input multiple output (MIMO) technologies from four transmit (4TX) antennas to 64 TX and higher will be employed. The future of 5G networks will depend on GaN and Si-LDMOS technologies, NXP notes.
