“SEMIKRON inside” – Technology for wind power installations. SEMIKRON technology can be found in almost half the wind power installations operating worldwide today. According to a study conducted by BTM Consult ApS, 122 GW of wind power was installed around the world until 2009, 57 GW of which feature SEMIKRON components. In the field of diode/thyristor modules Semikron is the market leader with a 30% share of the worldwide market.
 
As a significant innovator in the power electronics sector, many of the pioneering developments were introduced as industrial standard. Amongst other developments SEMIKRON invented the world’s first isolated power module, the SEMIPACK, of which 56 million are presently in use. SEMIKRON offers solutions from a single source: chips, diodes/thyristors, transistor/diode/thyristor modules with compatible gate drivers and power subsystems. SEMIKRON is advancing further into the solutions market thanks to its new SKiM«innovation – an IGBT module with a snap-on gate driver and SKiiP, an integrated intelligent power sub-system.
