ZF

ZF Electronics switches and sensors, (formerly CHERRY Switches), are synonymous with quality, precision and reliability, and can be found in a broad range of applications and markets such as white goods and appliances, automotive, gaming, vending, drives, switchgear, control engineering and power tools.

ZF is a global leader in driveline and chassis technology as well as active and passive safety technology. The company, which acquired TRW Automotive on May 15, 2015 and integrated it into the organizational structure as the Active & Passive Safety Technology Division, is represented at about 230 locations in some 40 countries. The combined company has a global workforce of around 138,300 and reported sales of 29.2 billion in 2015. ZF annually invests approximately five percent of its sales in Research & Development (1.4 billion in 2015) ensuring continued success through the design and engineering of innovative technologies. ZF is one of the largest automotive suppliers worldwide.

Today, mechatronic solutions are sought wherever massive, mechanical components and systems add a large amount of weight to vehicles. The effect: more compact, integrated assemblies, improved functionality and reliability and, of course, a large reduction in weight resulting in reduced fuel consumption. The prerequisites: intelligent controls, sophisticated sensors and switch modules, which remain reliable and robust over many years. Mechatronics for lighter, more environmentally friendly driving. Compelling alternatives to the traditional drivetrain consisting of a combustion engine, transmission and drive axle have emerged: hybrids, electric motors with batteries or fuel cells. The new variety has already made a significant impression on ZF. In addition to new developments of completely electric transmissions for city vehicles used for short range distances, ZF continuously optimizes hybrid drive technology. Whether car or commercial vehicle, ZF makes major contributions to resource- and environmentally-conserving transportation. And not only in theory: ZF products for powertrain electrification are economical, practical and ready for production. From the electric machinery through the inverter to the power electronics, everything comes from a single source.

Cherry GmbH (formerly Cherry Corporation) is a German-American computer peripheral-device maker. The company has its roots in the United States. They also manufactured a large range of products including sensors, input devices and automotive modules until 2008, when Cherry was bought by ZF Friedrichshafen and renamed to ZF Electronics GmbH.
