Huawei 5.5G Technology Plans to Be Commercialized In 2024

Published: 3.4.2024

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) that opened in Barcelona, 5.5G became a core topic. At this conference, Huawei demonstrated a full range of 5.5G product solutions in all scenarios, including 5G-A, F5G-A, Net5.5G, etc.

At the same time, Huawei has successively released large communication models, 5.5G intelligent core network solutions, three new products that support operators in building F5G-A all-optical target networks, and a full range of Net5.5G solutions.

5.5G, also known as 5G-A, is the transitional stage between 5G and 6G. It is a communication technology planned for 2025 to 2030, aiming to enhance and expand the application scenarios of 5G in the context of the continuous growth of 5G business scale and the acceleration of digitalization and intelligence.

5.5G is expected to improve the downlink and uplink transmission rates by 10 times, with a network access rate of up to 10 Gbps (10 gigabits per second, equivalent to a download speed of 1.25 GB per second), while ensuring millisecond-level latency. It has advanced features such as passive IoT, communication awareness, and earth-space integration communication, which will open more space for 5G applications in the B-side market.

It is reported that the 5.5G intelligent core network solution released this time includes new call technology, network intelligence, operation and maintenance intelligence, etc., enabling the realization of network business value.

Among them, the new call technology is a brand-new call concept and service model that can upgrade real-time calls to real-time interactive and immersive calls, and allows users to simultaneously transmit a variety of multimedia information, such as videos, pictures, and files during the call. , share screen content during a call, and more.

As an important part of Huawei's 5.5G intelligent core network, the new call technology has been deployed in 31 provinces in China in 2023 and can support 50 million users. It has also been widely verified in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and other regions. It is planned to be deployed in 2024 years of commercial use.
