Since inception in 1988, Hi Tech Resistors Pvt Ltd, popularly known as HTR in the electronics industry worldwide, has grown to become one of the leading resistor manufacturers in the world with presence in 35 countries through a network of representatives and distributors, worldwide.
HTR produces over a hundred thousand wire wound and low ohm current sense resistors everyday in a wide variety of mounting and housing configurations.
Amongst the very few ISO/TS 16949:2009 certified resistive device manufacturers in the world, HTR has a strong presence in the automotive sector through its range of HVAC and ECS (Electronic Control Systems) resistive devices.
HTR is one for the first companies to use the automotive ‘Product Part Approval Process’ methodology for industrial applications in which quality is always ‘built in at source’.
HTR now has the ability to offer techno-economic customized resistive devices for a wide range of applications.

Characteristics
Wirewound resistors perform great in general usage applications. They have good stability, have a moderate resistance range and are produced in many wattage sizes. Wirewound resistors have been around for a long time. They enjoy a long life because they have some very important features not duplicated by new technology products. Wirewound resistors are generally classified as either power wirewounds or precision wirewounds. The wirewound resistor is usually made by winding insulated resistance wire of a specific diameter around a bobbin. Resistors that tolerate against pulse or surge are required to be used such as; precharge resistors in the circuit where large current is instantaneously applied or, resistors in the circuit where ESD is more likely to be applied. Thick film chip resistors(metal glaze film type) are generally stronger against pulse than metal film chip resistors.
The traditional method of encapsulating resistors through the vitreous enamelled route which was in vogue till about 30 years ago has now been largely replaced with Fire Retardant Silicon/Cement coating.
Further in order to meet the gap in cost between the Silicon/Cement coated Wire Wound resistors and Vitreous Enamelled resistors, some manufacturers of Vitreous enamelled resistors use a low melting temperature enamel which is contra in quality to High Quality Vitreous coating.In addition some vitreous coatings are not RoHS compliant and this must be examined in detail by the component user when their requirements are for RoHS compliance.
